End treatments and mitres

Every required piece has independent left and right end treatments. This page covers setting them, what the sign means, and how they appear on the cut plan.

Setting an angle

Open Geometry & length datum for the piece. Enter each signed plane independently and select the drawing length datum. In these controls, 0° is square and either end may use a positive or negative deviation. The older quick end buttons show face angles (90° square); they do not author a verified signed geometry contract.

What the sign means

Both authored end planes use the same drawing coordinates: a positive plane slopes further along the stock from the reference face to the opposite face. Sign is independent of left or right end. Enter the solid rectangular depth and known stock ends as well. Hollow, curved and compound sections remain unsupported for verified miters.

On the cut plan

The cut plan and Workshop retain signed drawing planes and the authored length datum. A permitted end-for-end turn or in-place half-turn may change the presentation; operations record that handling without rewriting the drawing. Profile rolls and out-of-plane turns of angled geometry remain unsupported. These are drawing coordinates, not calibrated saw settings. Check the physical stock, datum, keeper, fence and machine calibration before cutting.

Keyboard and screen readers

Combined end controls stay labelled so a keyboard or screen-reader pass can review left and right values without guessing which field owns which end. If a control is unavailable, the surrounding row explains the current validation or workflow reason.
